Documentary PLAYER focuses on legendary Estonian sportsman, chess master Jaan Ehlvest and his last years of self searching in the United States of America and his relationships with top sport and with his family.

During 53 minutes the documentary follows Jaan Ehlvest's everyday lifes in the world of pro chess, where the income depends on losses and victories. Constantly being in different cities, but staying in confusingly similar hotels and the competition areas leads the main character to the question whether this kind of life is worth continuing. 

Jaan Ehlvest, who moved to the United States several years ago, was at his peak in the 1980s. In 1988 he was after Garri Kasparov and Anatoli Karpov the 3.-4. chess player in the world, he has also been a Junior Champion of Europe, Olympic winner in USSR team and twice the athlete of the year of Estonia.
