The Horror Anthology
“The Horror Anthology” brings together three horror films by Estonian filmmakers.
One hour, three films – no one is immortal in a good film…
Maria Reinup’s Once Upon a Time (2015) is an experiment in creating horror in a limited environment in the form of a short film – a pavilion film with eleven actors.
Anri Rulkov’s Fear – a psychological and haunting classic of Estonian horror filmmaking, (2004) demonstrates the diverse manifestations of fear as an audiovisual experience.
“… Rulkov’s attention was attracted by the fragility of everyday life, the sudden, inexplicable, unexpected interruption of everyday life…. the vanishing, violent, irrationality of the black, pernicious currents that lie beneath the thin layer of ice of everyday life…”
Jan Kaus “A glimpse from the Veltan car”
Lauri Randla’s Mausoleum (2016) is a time satire that deftly demonstrates the power of atmosphere to create horror through humour and deft pacing. The film has been screened at many international festivals and has received a positive response.
“…a fly on the end of Lenin’s nose – a fly hasn’t been quite so scary since Jeff Goldblum”
