The Horror Anthology” brings together three horror films by Estonian filmmakers.

One hour, three films – no one is immortal in a good film…

Maria Reinup’s Once Upon a Time (2015) is an experiment in creating horror in a limited environment in the form of a short film – a pavilion film with eleven actors.

Anri Rulkov’s Fear – a psychological and haunting classic of Estonian horror filmmaking, (2004) demonstrates the diverse manifestations of fear as an audiovisual experience.

“… Rulkov’s attention was attracted by the fragility of everyday life, the sudden, inexplicable, unexpected interruption of everyday life…. the vanishing, violent, irrationality of the black, pernicious currents that lie beneath the thin layer of ice of everyday life…”

Jan Kaus “A glimpse from the Veltan car”

Lauri Randla’s Mausoleum (2016) is a time satire that deftly demonstrates the power of atmosphere to create horror through humour and deft pacing. The film has been screened at many international festivals and has received a positive response.

“…a fly on the end of Lenin’s nose – a fly hasn’t been quite so scary since Jeff Goldblum”

- Synopsis

"Once Upon a Time" (2015) Eleven high school students on a class field trip seek shelter from a storm in an abandoned house. Waiting in one room brings out the conflicts and secret desires of the young people, but worse is to come when the house itself begins to reveal its unpleasant surprises. Instead of a cosy shelter, the young people find themselves in an increasingly impossible situation and must find the answer to the question: who or what is playing with their fears?

"Fear" After the death of her mother, Helen (Kaia Skoblov), is forced to leave her safe home in the city for a therapeutic institution in an old mansion. In a shocking environment, she falls under the influence of the powerful Dr. Schulze (Kalju Komissarov) and discovers among her patients characters whose existence she remembers only from disturbing childhood dreams. Helen has to choose between running back to the city or finding answers to her past.

"Mausoleum" The pathologist, Aksei Abrikosov (Victor Kotowicz von Lahnberg), has embalmed Lenin's body after his death, thus "winning death". Since then, the lives of Abrikosov and his assistant Sacha have been exclusively concerned with the care of Vladimir Ilyich's body. It is 1936, the "nightlife" of Stalin's repression, no one sleeps, and no one is safe, especially the Soviet elite. But just before May Day, a fly has landed in Lenin's sarcophagus! Abrikosov and Sacha must find a solution before the great leader's visit. The race to the death begins...
