Viru Film Fund

Uncover the cinematic potential of Ida-Viru County, a concealed gem in northeastern Estonia. Renowned for its diverse landscapes, ranging from precipitous coastal cliffs to expansive pine forests and serene rivers, Ida-Viru serves as a versatile backdrop for various cinematic genres and narratives. The region boasts a wide range of filming locations, including:

  1. The haunting beauty of Estonia’s largest industrial landscapes, characterised by their mining structures.
  2. Alutaguse National Park, encompassing forests and pristine wilderness, ideal for period pieces, thrillers, and fantasy settings.
  3. Winter scenes find their natural setting here, with picturesque snow-covered landscapes and the Kiviõli Adventure Center, a premier winter sports destination.

Regarding funding, the Viru Film Fund’s annual budget is €200,000 for the co-funding of feature films, documentaries, television series, and music videos produced within Ida-Viru County.

Reimbursement of up to 40% of expenses incurred within Ida-Viru County is available. Funding decisions are made within a 30-day timeframe.
