Estonia has a large variety of options for film financing. And we know all of them by heart. Here is a quick peek of the possibilities.

Cash-rebate program

Film Estonia

  • Support: up to 30% of the cost made in Estonia
  • Approved financing: 75%, including Film Estonia support
  • Annual budget: 6 000 000 € (2024)
  • Deadlines: open call – first come, first served
  • Supported projects: feature film, animation (feature length and short), animation series, 1 episode of TV-series, documentary, post production
Minority co-production

Estonian Film Institute

  • Support: Funding according to the budgetary possibilities
  • Annual budget: 600 000 € (2024), 635 000 € (2023), 725 000 € (2022)
  • Deadlines: twice a year, usually in February and October
  • Supported projects: full-length feature films, documentaries and animation; animated short film
Minority co-production

Cultural Endowment of Estonia

  • Support: 100 000 € for full-length feature film; 25 000 € for full-length documentary
  • Deadlines: 4 times a year; February, May, August, November
  • Supported projects: full-length feature films and documentaries, half-hour documentaries, short feature film and animated film
Regional funding

Pärnu County Film Fund

  • Support: up to 25 % of the cost made in the region
  • Annual budget: 100 000 € (2024)
  • Region: Pärnu county
  • Supported projects: full-length feature films, documentaries, TV series, music videos, student films
Regional funding

Film Fund of Estonian Islands

  • Support: up to 40 % of the cost made in the region
  • Annual budget: 30 005 € (2024)
  • Region: Saare county
  • Supported projects: full-length feature films, documentaries, TV series, music videos, student films
Regional funding

Viru Film Fund

  • Support: up to 40 % of the cost made in East of Estonia
  • Annual budget: 200 000 € (2024)
  • Deadlines: twice a year, April 1st and October 1st
  • Region: Ida-Viru County
  • Supported projects: full-length feature films, documentaries, TV series and music videos
Regional funding

Tartu Film Fund

  • Support: up to 35 % of the cost made in South of Estonia
  • Annual budget: 150 000 € (2024)
  • Deadlines: twice a year, usually in February and October
  • Region: Tartu, Jõgeva, Põlva, Valga and Võru county
  • Supported projects: full-length feature films, documentaries, animation films, shorts, quality TV series
